Something About SEO
By captaina at 2007-08-08 09:00
Dear Members,

In my short tenure as web host I have realised a few things about Search Engine Optimization which are as follows,

1. The first principle to follow to my mind is put yourself in others (surfers') shoes. When thinking of a owning a website, start thinking about having a website where you expect visitors through Search Engines, think as to how and why a person would reach it and that would give you complete idea about your keywords. You may not have a lengthy Title or description or keyword density yet you may appear pretty high on Search Engines listing. Here I would like to mention a case, one of modeling and event management site kreativeconnections.net lists much higher then others even though I have done very little on that. Reason? The models photo gallery had a category named celebrity models and whenever someone searched for any of those celebrity names my site would figure in and I would fetch plenty of visitors. So before you buy a domain name start thinking from others point of view because you know your website very well but others still don't. Think as to what keywords you used when you were looking for a reliable web host, think what all search terms you used finding a domain registrar and more then half the battle is won. These very keywords and description would get you good results. Bank linking, buying links and search engine submission, all are important but most important of them all is thinking from a simple surfer's point of view will give you the better results.

Utilizing SiteMaps for SEO
By KellyW at 2007-03-29 23:12
These days web designers are giving up fast load times and valid coding for more visually stunning sites which is a huge mistake for Search Engine Optimization and they have to compensate for it by using services like Google AdWords and paying huge $$ just to get hits. Some sites are still using a splash page or other types of intro pages because of this, yet it doesnt help much because splash pages usually have little or no content for search engines to read and only one link to follow. Todays search engines are overloaded because of the sheer number of websites and pages on the internet so sometimes search engines will skip pages contained in a site even if they have the proper meta tags indicating that the pages should be indexed and links followed.

By apondonet at 2006-08-03 03:11
Google currently is reported to have indexed 8 billion pages and counting. Google utilizes an array of bots A.K.A. spiders or crawlers.

Among the specialized bots Google uses include: The web spider Googlebot, the Adsense spider MediaBot, the image spider ImageBot, the AdWords spider AdsBot, the RSS feed spider FeedFetcher-Google, and Googlebot-Mobile spider for mobile devices. MSN & Yahoo, the other two of the 'big three' have their own proprietary versions of spiders.
