These days when I look at starting a new venture online, I evaluate how much traffic I have access to for a specific niche and go from there. A few months ago I started an anime topsite, for no reason other than I already had enough anime webmaster traffic to do so.

Basically i ran a single, effective 728x90 banner on the anime section of itopsites for 2 months to get the ball rolling (no other promo was done). This helped me get the topsite populated with the first 100 members...
